You know who they are...

Well, Mount Faber is swamped by tourists in the morning... and if you notice... they are all from the same "source". Need not to view, but can hear them from far. They all have the same pose, and our poor Mr Merlion has his mouth (er... jaw) touched "n" times.

One good reminder, after observing this group of tourists... As a tourist, one does not own every right to take pictures and ignore "order" and "courtesy". There's a need to include "queue" and "courtesy" in your travel "guide" else, you may just ended up as one of those deemed arrogant and highly disliked human being. That reminded me when we queued to take pictures with the charging bull in New York! That was so much order and peace in the entire process. No rush and all observe courtesy. Haiz... something that this group of tourist need to really learn.

Something about technology...

(I) Events in Google+
It's my first attempt to try using "Events" in Google+ to document an activity. With the apps in hand, pretty easy to use, just point and shoot and upload. It also allows other invited guests (who accepted the invitation) to post photos, and automatically create "individual" albums, yet provides the "collective" view.

The only disadvantage I notice is I'm unable to put in any captions at the point of posting. It would be great if can do that as well. Other thing that's missing is the tagging of location at the point of posting. Maybe, the idea of "Events" is that it will only take place at one place, and not so much for an outdoor trip like a trail over several kilometres in distance.

So, the first review is, "Events" is a good place to post images to tell what's happening. But not that comprehensive a platform if we wish to document an event beyond pictures. We'll have to work through the computer to add captions and tag people.

One more thing that I've not quite figured out, that is, how to re-order photos that were posted up.

(II) Blogger
At the same time, I was also blogging with the Apps along the way. Again, pretty easy to work. One 'advantage' it has is about the location tagging. However, I'm surprised that it is so limited (compared to the list provided by Facebook when checking in). I wonder where does Blogger draw its location database from?

For blogger, because of its "posting nature", the latest post will be posted right on top. As such, I actually reorganised the posts (in an 'opposite' manner) so that the blog is more reader-friendly.

(III) Facebook
Checking in is now a 'norm'... and so far, it has not quite disappoint me because I can basically check in at most of the landmarks.

(IV) Maps & GoogleMap
Maps that track real time location is pretty indispensable, when we need to "make decisions". There are 2 junctures that it became handy and it saved us some extra walking by following the little blue dot indicating where we were in the map.

As of what I did in my other trips, a GoogleMap was created - for planning purpose, especially when we are making a trip to an unfamiliar place. Pins were laid along the way to help the on-the-spot navigation, which turned out to be helpful :) In addition, pictures are inserted into selected pin to give a more visual documentation of what we see along the way :)
